School Creative Writing

Shona is a young girl of about 13 years of age. She has long, brown, curly hair, bright almost sparky blue eyes and skin so rosy pink and soft it’s like velvet.

Shona had had a tough time with schools. Her mother was a consultant for a large corporation who regularly exported their products and new developments overseas. It was Shona’s mother’s job to smooth over any problems that clients had along with ensuring that they secured major business deals with potential clients which meant that they often relocated when long term projects came up.

Shona’s father was a military man. Having served with the Royal Mardian Army for the past twenty years, he was often deployed overseas and rarely saw Shona and her mother.

Today Shona was starting a new school. She felt like she’d done this a thousand times before, she knew what to expect but this did nothing to comfort her nerves. They felt as if they had a life of their own and could just fly away with her stomach.

Her mother dropped her off at the school gate and waved goodbye because she had a busy day.

Shona walked slowly and nervously onto the school grounds. As she did so the monstrous, grey buildings seemed to tower over Shona and make her feel inferior.

She walked apprehensively towards the front office to collect her timetable.

As the day past there were minimal problems. At least that was until lunch. Seven girls from her year approached her in a group. They were the ‘boundary pushers’ as Shona had over heard from the other class mates. Most, if not all, had had sex at least once, they wagged, smoked and dressed un-conservatively. The obvious ‘leader’ of the group was called Skye and she seemed to give the impression that she liked to push the boundaries. Once the group reached Shona, Skye said to her “I hear your new here? Do u know who owns these grounds?....We Do! So don’t u EVER forget it!”

“Oh nd by the way your sandwich is vomit nd that hair band looks absurd on u!”
