Culture in our society is very important. Although there are several cultures in the world, the Mbuti culture is different because they are known as the people of the rainforest in Ituri forest in northeastern Congo/Zaire. The Mbuti people are the oldest group of people in the Congo region of Africa. They are primarily hunters and gatherers in the rainforests. Each group of people is formed by bands that include no more than fifty or sixty people. The Mbuti people have a unique culture and lifestyle.
They are able to adapt to change quickly which makes them so unique. They have a very simple government and their decisions are made by a person who is respected. The Mbuti people or foragers live throughout different parts of Africa. They believe that the wealth and the goodness of the forest come from the god of the forest. They believe that animals have spirits and once they hunt down and kill their animal, they have a ritual before eating the meat.
The forest foragers also practice a ritual to help to control the weather and improve hunting. They believe in respecting each other and they teach their children to have respect early on. They believe in having order and if there are any issues that anyone would like to discuss, they do so in an orderly way. The Mbuti people do not care about material things; they believe that the forest will provide for all of their needs. They live with the basic necessities.
To hunt for there food, they use poisoned spears, bow and arrows and nets to hunt with. The men hunt all types of animals and the women gather fruits and plants. There are times when the Mbuti men have trouble with hunting. There have been times where other local villagers have come and cleared away all of the Mbuti crops.
