Area of Interaction___ Approaches to Learning___ Community & Service___ Health & Social Education___ Environments___ Human Ingenuity | Highlighter Skills to Improve Reading ComprehensionHighlighting will help to promote better reading comprehension. Students who highlight as they read are learning to identify the important points, and are paying close attention to what they are reading so that they highlight the appropriate text. Focusing on the text in this way enables greater learning and deeper comprehension.Highlighting also helps both visual and tactile students remember what they are reading and will aid in studying the text independently. For visual learners, the highlighted portions of text will stick in their heads better as a visual reminder of the important facts in the text. For tactile learners, the physical act of highlighting helps them to remember the important facts.Procedures/Activities: 1. The teacher and students will read aloud the passage Reading recipe then skim and highlight text for important details to answer question and improve reading comprehension. 2. Then student will follow the recipe and make ice cream in a bag. 3. I will have each student put vanilla, milk, and
sugar into their pint-size bags. Then we closed the bags. 4. In the gallon-size bags, you will put about 2 cups of ice (filled it half way) and added the Rock salt on top of it. 5. The pint-size bag goes on top of the ice and then you closed the big bag. Closure:Then the student will shook their bags for about 5 to 10 minutes to the music...
