Discuss the role of leadership and how it can impact organizational performance.
The discussion on the role of leadership and its impact on an organizational performance could not be completed for this paper without understanding first what is a leadership. Leadership is the process of developing ideas and visions, and living by those values support, hence those ideas and vision, should be able to influence others. (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2010, p.290). . Leadership play many vital roles which are not only limited to a personal role that required the blending of strategic and management skills, but also to align focus, energy driven whilst creating a culture that encourages individual thinking and attainment.
Moreover, leadership can facilitate the improvement of performance when organizations face today’s new challenges such as innovation-based competition, price and performance rivalry, decreasing returns and market volatility. By and large, leadership skills can also help correct poor business practices, or internal conflicts between employees, thereby helping a business maintain singular focus on its operations. From the above highlighted roles it is evident that the role of leadership can impact an organization performance in diverse ways. First, leaders who are overly dominant, or become obsessed with achieving goals can overlook various details in the business organization which can seriously impact an organization.
Consequently, managers and employees may also be less willing to help dominant or extremely critical leaders with accomplishing their goals and objectives. Besides, dominating leadership creates difficult business relationships therefore; some companies and business owners avoid...
