Sentence Correction and Changes in Writing

Review the following sentences. Some of them are correct, whereas others contain an error with a commonly confused word.

Identify those with errors by marking each of the errors in bold. Make the correction in parentheses after the error. For those that are correct, write correct at the end of the sentence.

The material that the class has studied in the past few weeks, has built upon some of the writing skills that are already possessed, however there is a great deal that needs to be learned. Within these first four weeks, I have come to a better understanding of the nine types of verb tenses, how they change form, also how verbs use the helping verbs have or be to indicate their different tenses. For instance: Present Perfect Tense: Junior has ridden a skateboard since he was seven.

The word since indicates present perfect tense is needed, and has is the helping verb.
