When we try to compare two cultures the similarities are many, but at the same time there are many differences, so I want to start off by discussing these things that made us different and how we can adapt to each other in these circumstances. Americans and Hispanics differ in three special aspects: food, comfort, and self-reliance.

To begin, one of the clearest differences is in the way how both cultures eat. First of all, Americans live in a hurry and don’t really have enough time to cook lunch or even sometimes dinner. As a result, we eat out approximately four days per week. We like to go to fast food restaurants or if we eat at home, we tend to prepare a lot of several frozen meals or use plates with canned products such as vegetables and soups. We don’t want to spend too much time cooking because we are always working or busy with extracurricular activities.

On the contrary, the Hispanics enjoy cooking at home and it’s very uncommon that they go outside to visit a restaurant. If they do this, it is usually for a special holiday event such as a birthday celebration, anniversary, or graduation. Another aspect is that middle class people in other countries don’t have enough money to visit a restaurant or fast food places frequently, so they cook every week day except Sundays. On this particular day Latinos share a big meal; they join together at one’s house with their families and friends and enjoy a big feast gathered around a family type setting.

Second, the Americans love of comfort is seen in the way they decorate their homes, design their cars, and travel. For instance, when we have a holiday we spend majority of our time making changes to our home dwelling to make it more comfortable, festive and welcoming.
