In today’s society, how and where should cyber crime be punishable? Hacking for example is the highest known crime that can be committed on the internet. Hacking, which is punished by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, involves stealing, misuse of personal information, damage of software, corruption and so forth, holding a maximum of six months to five years in a penitentiary and a fine. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has organized to dismantle national and transnational organized criminal enterprises engaging in internet fraud and identity theft. Some of which it states is to be cautious when dealing with individuals and companies from outside your own country, purchase items online using your credit card, because you can often dispute the charges if something goes wrong, and do your homework on the individual or company to ensure that they are legitimate. Cyber crime should fall in the same category as hacking far as being handled and punished.

Any crime dealing with the computer is basically stealing ones files or information, or using it in some sort of system and penetrating precious software for misusage and for criminal pleasure. Cyber crime, cyber terrorism or hacking is defined as crimes committed on the computer and/or internet focusing mainly on theft and corruption. Companies, schools, networks, and the government all play a big role in these criminal activities. At McClure Middle School in Seattle, WA, twenty-eight students were suspended for cyber bullying their classmates on Face book. Cyber Bullying first defined by Bill Belsey as “the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group that is intended to harm others (wikipedia)”.
