Child Rights

Child rights

Child rights refer to rights of children. Every child in our country has certain rights. Our constitution of India has mentioned that every person under the age of 18years is considered as child and has given them rights.

These rights are equal for all. This means that irrespective of status, religion, village, caste, sex or ability. Every child should be treated as a respected individual.

The basic right of every child is proper food and home. But in our society, poor children are considered inferior and thus not given their due rights.

Child development is possible only when they are imparted with knowledge and education. Education helps the child to grow into an independent adult and also the society. India has made primary education compulsory and universal. However people are not aware and do not practise their rights.

Emotionally, the child also needs proper care, love and attention. Children today are facing many other problems such as child labour, abuse, exploitation etc. Children who have faced such difficulties and harsh times might have negative impact of the situation. It is only by understanding and caring that the child will be able to move ahead in life in the right manner. It is our duty to work against these issues and help children out of these hardships.

We must also remember that children are equal individuals of our society and should be given the freedom to express their thoughts and voice their opinions.

In spite of legislations, children in our society are not given their rights and many under-privileged children are facing hunger, exploitation, illiteracy etc.

We are educated responsible citizens and must correct this environment and spread awareness about child rights. Even a little contribution by each person can help to bring about a change in our society.
