Canned Food vs. Fresh Food

When you ask a person what one of their favorite things to do is, many would respond with the answer eating. In the world today the variety of food people have to choose from is almost infinite. The only problem with having so many possibilities is making the decision of what to get. They decide what they are about to eat and how it will affect their bodies. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences between eating fresh foods instead of canned foods. The three main differences are flavor, health benefits, and cost.

The most notable difference between canned food and fresh is their flavor. Fresh foods maintain their great flavor and enhance the flavor of anything you cook with them because they keep all their natural conditions. Fresh foods maintain an organic earthy taste throughout the cooking process. Canned foods however, lack a lot of flavor characteristics because there are numerous chemical products added to them to ensure preservation. Although those chemicals are supposed to be flavorless they inherently change the taste of the food it has been added too. It is logical that the fresh foods will have a greater taste and maintain flavor when consumed just based on the lack of any chemical additions. Combining preservatives with foods raises the question of health and those chemicals affect on the body when consumed.

When comparing both types of foods we notice another difference. There is a health factor that affects both canned and fresh foods. Canned foods lose some of the original fresh food nutrients when stored for long periods of time. In addition, canned foods have to be combined with multiple preservatives and chemical factors that prolong the shelf life and assist in maintaining freshness of the food.
