Many large established companies have been in business long enough to see the level and degree of technology change. The changes make different areas of business and personal lives run smoothly. Computer technology is said to make the world go round. Businesses rely mainly on information systems and software applications. Some of these programs make day-to-day task faster, efficient, and more reliable. Many of these programs eliminate the need for a person writing information on a piece of paper. There are many types of software applications used in areas such as human resources, management, and accounting.

Human resources department today rely heavily on a software application known as PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft in a company such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida is a software application used in human resources. “It connects complete business processes, automates common administrative tasks, and leverages industry best practices to enable strategic management, along with efficient administration” (Oracle, 2011). The use of PeopleSoft allows more efficient and accurate payroll processing. The application is also important in processing benefit, W4 information, and personal employee data.

Another type of business software is Sage Peachtree Complete Accounting. Used in smaller businesses, this accounting software helps manage employees, customers, billing, and inventory. Sage is ranked highly for ease of use. The software program enlists all of the journals and ledgers one may need. Sage allows management of almost 200 fixed assets. Another feature of this software is the banking section. The program can void a check as well as write a check, reconcile an account, and make deposits (TopTen Reviews, 2011).
