Anti Bullying Laws

Anti-Bullying Laws

My son was the victim of bullying in school two years ago in the 8th grade. I got a telephone call from Thompson Middle School stating that my son had been rushed to Day-Kimball Hospital. When I asked the secretary what had happened the only thing she could say was that he had some head and neck trauma. I eventually found out that my 13 year old son was attacked by a much bigger and older kid, who slammed my son into two cement walls then my son fell to the floor and suffered a possible concussion and neck injury. I got to the hospital to find my son in a neck brace and his sweatshirt cut off of him by the paramedics. He was crying in pain and extremely frightened. I could not pick him up so I just got down next to him and gently touched his head which was painful. In an hours time the X RAY technicians took him down to x ray his neck, head, and back. As he was coming back a Connecticut State Trooper was coming down the hall to speak to my son about what happened and to get his side of the story. He told us that the other boy was being arrested for assault and battery of a minor but will be processed into juvenile system and put on probation. I was just thankful that all my sons x rays came back negative for injury.

The second incident of bullying done to my son was done last year, in his freshman year, on the school bus with his baseball team and the coach. A few team mates ganged up on him and started to beat on him. It wasn't known to me till I saw the bruises for myself. The bruises on his back were about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. The bruises I found on his nipple area were 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. When I confronted his father about this he said,”I know about them. I told him to buck up and be a man.” I realized I would get no where with him so I contacted the principal and told him of the
